Our Team
owner Michelle Els

My love for working out and teaching others inspired me to become an Instructor. My career in the fitness industry began in 1998. What better way to live my life loving what I do as my job.

There is nothing more gratifying than being able to use your knowledge to help transform another persons perceptions of themselves from not believing to actually doing. Seeing them celebrating their ability to overcome obstacles and believe in themselves and make life changes that will extend their years beyond their expectations.

owner Sarah Jacobs
As a busy lawyer, mom, wife, and owner of two businesses, Sarah is always on the "go, go, go." After several years of realizing that she took care of everyone in her life but herself, she found that being on the "go" left little time for self care. She found her now business partner Michelle and in 2007, began as a personal training client.  Although Sarah had been reluctant to see fitness as anything but the difficult means to an end (weight loss), her work with Michelle not only transformed her body, but her mind as well. Sarah began to implement these changes throughout her life, including eating healthier, incorporating fitness, and encouraging her family to follow her.

Sarah became a client following the birth of her son.. She incorporated Pilates and group fitness into her regimen. In 2014, after bearing witness to what the studio, and it's instructors can do, Sarah made a firm commitment to ensuring that the studio's message would continue, and partnered with Michelle as owners of the amazing space. She became a qualified TRX instructor in 2014, and in 2015, having found a passion for cycling, Sarah became a certified Spinning instructor. She now teaches Spinning  and TRX on the weekends. Her secret sauce? "It's the playlist. Nothing can get you going like a good song to shake your hips to!"
Her goal? "Spread the love. If I can get one more person to fall in love with wellness and self-care, then I have done my work for the day."

Her philosophy? "No one is going to make it happen but you. Anyone can decide to make a change, but it's the determination to keep going that sets you apart from the rest. Change is progression and progression is transformation."

trainer Kurt Gesteland

Years of low back pain, eventually a herniated disk, and a decrease in normal physical function are what drew Kurt to the Pilates method. Gaining tremendous improvement in core strength, not to mention overall strength, balance and control, he was hooked and embarked on his comprehensive certification. Since then and for the past 12 years he has helped clients of all ages, fitness levels, and abilities reap the rewards of this brilliant strength and flexibility training method. His style is clear and controlled, with an emphasis on precision before introducing and challenging clients with the flow of a classical Pilates workout. He is inspired by the “a ha” moments clients have during a Pilates session.

Most currently Kurt has added nutrition coaching after receiving his Level 1 certification with Precision Nutrition. He is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, Group Exercise Instructor through ACE and AFAA, and is certified in TRX suspension training, which he fondly refers to as “standing Pilates”. He has had the rewarding experience of traveling the world for 9 years as an international master presenter and teacher trainer for Les Mills. In this role he has taught and mentored over one thousand fitness instructors. He is certified to teach Les Mills BODYPUMP®, BODYFLOW®, CXWORX® and BODYVIVE® among others. Kurt teaches a wide variety of Pilates classes and private sessions, as well as amazing cardio formats and formats focusing on recovering, restoring and building the core.

Outside of the studio, Kurt loves outdoor activities including hiking and downhill skiing, and harbors a love-hate relationship with golf. Inside you’ll find him in the kitchen fulfilling his desires (and appetite!) as an avid cook and foodie.

trainer Terri Christmann

Terri is one of our Pilates instructors and is passionate about sharing her love of Pilates and fitness with her clients.  Over eight years ago, Terri received her comprehensive Pilates certification from Power Pilates in NYC. This encompassed over 800 instruction and apprentice hours, training under some of the finest instructors in the classical Pilates field.

Terri was a member of our family from its beginning initially taking Strength and Cardio classes. It was at our space that she took her first Pilates class and fell in love with the practice.  After receiving her certification, she brought her new knowledge of Pilates back to the studio where she shares her talents with our clients.  Terri is client focused and finds great satisfaction in helping each client reach his or her goals. It excites her to see her clients become stronger each week.

Terri teaches Pilates mat and tower classes, and private, duet and semi private reformer and apparatus classes.  Whatever type of class is your style, Terri will find a way to challenge you in a fun and safe way. "Throughout a session we always find time to laugh or find beauty in the day.  After all, a healthy body and spirit go hand in hand!"

trainer Kara Olsen

Kara took the leap from client to trainer at move! in 2014 and is currently a certified LesMills BodyPump instructor, Pound Pro instructor and TRX instructor. She carried over her passion, dedication, focus & enthusiasm as a member of our group fitness team to leading the class with the same level of commitment & drive while inspiring our clients to push their limits and get amazing results while working safely and learning along the way….all of this while having fun, breaking a sweat and connecting with each client.

“Some of the most rewarding moments I have had as an instructor is seeing a client’s progress and hearing them say that they feel stronger & more confident. It is fantastic to see how we together, as a group, learn to bridge the gap between not only understanding fitness and also the mechanics of our bodies but also safe training and how the two together create amazing changes and improvements for our health. But more than just improving our physical health, training together positively impacts our emotional wellness, which is just as important. To know that I am part of this personal growth for our clients holds such a positive impact in my life and I am honored to be part of our journey. I can’t wait to hit the studio with our amazing clients and have a fantastic time. I absolutely love my job!”

trainer Nadine Kern

All the steps along the path of Nadine’s life has led her to Pilates. Her first stepping stone, as a Respiratory Therapist and Cardiac Ultrasound Technician, gave her the knowledge and understanding of the body that she now applies to her Pilates clients. Her years as a student of ballet and jazz gave her an appreciation of the endless possibilities of the human body. Years as a public high school teacher awoke in her the love of teaching and continuous learning. With the advent of sciatica pain, Nadine remembered that Pilates had always been whispered about in the dance world for rehabilitation and strengthening. She sought out a certified Pilates instructor and started on the path that two years later led her to the prestigious New York Pilates school, started by Joe Pilates himself, and to Romana Kryzanowska, one of his proteges. After auditioning and a year of arduous studying, she became certified.

For Nadine, watching Romana teach was a spiritual journey of knowledge, intuition and connection with the client. This is what she strives for in her approach to teaching. In addition to Pilates, Nadine’s other passion is her Border Collies and nationally competing in dog agility.

trainer Alyssia Saporito

Alyssia has been a student of yoga for over 10 years and a teacher for 9. After seeing the positive changes physically and mentally from her regular yoga practice, she decided to take her 200 Hour training in 2011 to share this practice with others. “One of my favorite teachers, Jason Crandell, has said ‘The nature of Yoga is to shine the light of awareness into the darkest corners of the body.’ I find it an honor to be able to help others begin to tap into their physical, mental and emotional awareness through their practice.”

For each class she creatively crafts sequences for all bodies, incorporating props and modifications where needed, and promoting a strong emphasis on safe alignment throughout asana (poses). She primarily teaches Vinyasa Flow but also has a restorative background.
